The Marriage Cruise was conceived by Dr. Chuck Laird, president of Built to Last Marriages and nationally renowned marriage coach with clients throughout North America (see www.chucklaird.com).

The ground-breaking Built to Last Marriage Program™ is a relational development training course created by Dr. Laird to help married couples - particularly newlyweds - develop healthy patterns of interaction for long-term happiness and success in their marriage. Together Dr. Laird and his wife Jeanette (of 25 happy years) share insights, teach personal and relational skills, and lead participants in a variety of training exercises and experiences designed to help couples create for themselves a healthy, happy chemistry that consistently contributes to long-term oneness and happiness.

Dr. Laird is executive director of Sanctuary Christian Ministries, a religious non-profit organization dedicated to providing safe, sensitive, and non-judgmental care, healing, encouragement, and ongoing support to hurting people in non-church settings. He performs weddings for 1st Choice Weddings of Southern California and is founder of WeddingMinisters.com, the first and largest directory and organization of wedding ministers on the internet.

A former Prebyterian pastor for 17 years, Dr. Laird holds degrees from Portland State University, University of Dubuque Theological Seminary and Fuller Theological Seminary.

Jeanette earned her degree in psychology in 1979 and is a skilled group facilitator and caregiver. She helps men better understand their wives and how women are different then men (part of a BTLM workshop). She is very popular with women both as a marriage coach and for parenting help.

Jeanette has homeschooled their four children since 1989. All four are involved in Sanctuary. Robert (23) has develop a pre-dating preparation course for middle-schoolers and is sound technician for Marriage Cruise. Brian (21) is a web-site programmer and designer and leads a teen Christian personal and relationship development training program called PALz. Laurie (13) and Christy (12) are middle school students.
